Pets
Who is learning faster.

This is probably the biggest concern of most of the dog owners. The politically correct answer to this question is: “It is a dog specific issue.” However, as I don’t care too much about remaining politically correct, I would say that puppies are much faster learners. It isn’t just the matter of age or intelligence.

Older dogs have usually a whole life of experiences and habits, they have to overcome to learn new ways of doing things. This applies to everything form house training to simple dog tricks. Quite obviously this is different with puppies, they are just discovering the world and don’t have many issues they have to fight.

Of course I don’t want you to be afraid to adopt or train an older dog. Pets from dog pounds are usually great animals, they are very grateful for even the simplest things and are a wonderful companionship for any human.

What kind of results can I expect.

Now this question just begs for the answer: “It is a dog specific issue.” But I will try to introduce you to this topic in more detail.

Puppies and young dogs, despite they usually learn quicker have trouble with holding their bladder and bowel movements as their muscles responsible for this are underdeveloped. So even after weeks of training, puppies can steal eliminate wherever he likes. This makes a lot of dog owners frustrated as they don’t understand that their dog is unaware of what he has done.

With older dogs this problem is reduced and no longer applies. This often makes people think that in fact, older dogs are learning better than the young ones. However, from my experience I know that you will have to spend much more time training an older dog that is used to eliminating outdoors, to eliminate in a litter box or on paper.

AS you can see house training older and younger dogs has both some advantages and disadvantages. But in the end it doesn’t matter if your pet is young or old, what matter is you have a loving partner that is there for you whenever you need him.
